WELCOME TO
" Life in the Past Lane "
& Related Families
The best way to preserve our family history is to share it.
I am Victoria Taylor True. This is my pet project, my labor of love and my obsession-- "Life in the Past Lane".
I began the walk back in time when my paternal Grandmother was about to have her 100th birthday and my maternal Gardner Reunion was scheduled after many years of us not having one. Both sides of the family were gathering within a month of each other , so I did a little working up of names and listing and printing so everyone would a keepsake from the reuinon. WELL, the bug bite and I did a little more learning of "how" to go about finding info. Thus the results on now before you and daily the info and names grow, as does the meeting of cuzins and relatives that otherwise I would never have gotten to meet or know. Thank you all~ for sharing and allowing our families ,to at least meet, by pictures and by sharing your family lines.
This will help all us "cuzins" to find each other and help us walk through the sands of time. This is a data base of sorts, ever ongoing additions and findings are posted often. Updates with this many lines, the trees are becoming our forest . Photos, documents and articles are welcome. Please send in verification , to help us document our lineages.
The directory of names on each side will guide you in the direction of where you want to go. I have only listed my Grandparents "Sir Names" ; so other names are among the many pages that I dont have a listing set up for (but there is search engine now that will search all pages ..remember names have a variety of spellings ) .. If you find a connection or additon is needed - email me and let me know. I will add your lines , thus allowing the tree to grow as we watch our forest appear.
Come back often, as I am updating daily and be sure to let me know if there is anything to add, change or correct. This is a works in progress, so nothing is set in stone unless noted with a validation. Happy Viewing!!
Life in the Past Lane has been constructed with the help of many, many people, whom are listed among the groups. I am most grateful for their contributions to these pages and welcome the addition of more names to allow us to watch our tree to become our forest. This is a monument to our ancestors in their own lifetimes, us that are living now and our children to come. .

RESEARCHING
Need a Genealogy Researcher?
As a genealogist researcher, I specialize in and have a passion for helping others. I will provide you with assistance in creating your family tree and/or filling in the missing pieces. I have experience, of which the info among my own personal family lines above, will show. We start with you and build the foundation , plant the seed and watch your tree turn into your forest, I will do a website layout of your family groups ; hopefully going back to your Immigrating ancestor. I will link your website to mine, resulting in :
Retainer and $hourly fee applies, plus any special ordering fees and postage. I look forward to helping you find your heritage and learning of your past, that helped you become the "US" we are today.
I look forward to helping you find your passages and giving to your children their heritage. --Â Victoria Taylor-True
TIMELINE VARIENTS: The various effects of these changes results in varients among the genealogy information. Dates around 1626 and 1752. Also, the Quakers had their own practices with respect to the representation of dates.
--- Although the Julian ("Old Style") calendar had been replaced by the Gregorian ("New Style") calendar on most of the continent in 1582 and in Scotland in 1660, in England and Wales until 1751 the year was still identified (by the church) as beginning on March 25, so that an event listed as say 1625 February 20 would, on today's basis, be 1626 February 20. However, the New Style system was used earlier by the civil authorities; on the other hand, natural resistance to change meant that the old year system persisted in part for some time.
---Â Chesterfield's Act"Â of 1751 provided that 1752 would start on January 1, that 1752 September 2 would be followed immediately by 1752 September 14 and that the Julian calendar would be replaced by the Gregorian calendar.
As I have researched and discovered my heritage, I have come to find a new love. History! We are all a very small part of a very large picture. Our ancestors brought us to where are today and are the history of our time. The timeline of events are best understood , as I have learned, of wars and trials and tribulations of our ancestors lives, voyages they took and paths in life that lead us to today. Here are a few links you can walk through and reach "Life in the Past Lane"

I saw behind me those who had gone, and before me those who are to come. I looked back and saw my father and his father and all our fathers, and in front to see my son and his son, and the sons upon sons beyond. And their eyes were my eyes. As I felt so they had felt, and were to feel, as then, so now, as tomorrow and forever. Then I was not afraid, for I was in a long line that had no beginning and no end. And the hand of his father grasped my father's hand and his hand was in mine, and my unborn son took my right hand and all, up and down the line that stretched from Time That Was to Time That Is and Is Not Yet, raised their hands to show the link. And we found that we were one....

A Prayer for Genealogists
Lord, help me dig into the past
And sift the sands of time,
That I might find the roots that made
This family tree of mine.
Lord, help me trace the ancient roads
On which my fathers trod,
And led them through so many lands
To find our present sod.
Lord, help me find an ancient book
Or dusty manuscript
That's safely hidden now away
In some forgotten crypt;
Lord, let it bridge the gap that haunts
my soul when I can't find
The missing link between some name
that ends the same as mine.

WARNING....GENEALOGY POX; [very contagious to adults]
SYMPTOMS:
Continual complaints as to need for names, dates and places. Patient has blank expression, sometimes deaf to spouse and children. Has no taste for work of any kind, except feverishly looking through records at libraries, courthouses and internet, Has compulsion to write letters and send e-mail. Swears at mailman when he doesn't stop and leave mail. Frenquents strange places such as cemeteries, ruins and remote desolate country areas. Makes secret night calls. Hides phone bills from spouse and mumbles to [him or her] self. Has strange far away look in eyes.
TREATMENT:
Medication is useless. There is no known cure. Disease is not fatal, but gets progressively worse. Patient should attend genealogy workshops, subscribe to genealogy magazines and be given a quiet corner in the house where he or she can be alone.
REMARKS:
The unusual nature of this disease is...the sicker the patient gets, the more he or she seems to enjoy it!
Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come forever and ever-----Isaiah 30:8
